Welcome to Serendipity Spa! One of my life long dreams is to own and operate my own business and I’m excited and happy to realize that dream come true. Serendipity Spa is a place where clients receive innovative skin treatments, relaxation, and a nurturing atmosphere where I can build lasting relationships for the very best ongoing skin and lifestyle care.
Serendipity Spa offers the latest advancements in modern skin care, combining organic-based ingredients with cutting-edge clinical treatments to transform skin with long-term results. Whether your goal is to combat complex skin concerns, ward off signs of aging, or simply maintain healthy skin, Serendipity Spa can design a customized and progressive treatment program that sets you on the path to lifelong healthy skin.
My dream began while attending and graduating from Grandview College and the Professional Cosmetology Institute’s aesthetics program. I also worked for a cosmetic line receiving training in makeup application, skin care, and business/client relation techniques. My passion for skin care continued working for several of Des Moines' leading Plastic Surgeons. My experience starting in 1999 has helped me develop a true love of making people feel good about themselves and to find a confidence in the way they look. Most important is to match customized skin care regimens to skin types and specific conditions with advanced technologies along with professional products to achieve best results. I like to see confidence restored as clients proceed in their journey to healthy living and feel qualified to give advice as well as referrals to those in need.
My other lifelong dream is to have a family balance and that realization has more than been met with my two wonderful, active sons, Landon and Stone and my husband John. John and I lead a very active life style just keeping up, but we also work on mind, spirit and body activities. I feel confident in personally representing what my business philosophy is all about.
Melissa’s beauty secret? “Use SPF daily; always incorporate antioxidants and retinols into your skincare regimen; wear a mineral makeup for a flawless finish; and don’t forget to do something daily for YOU (take a nap, exercise, spend time with your friends, and make scheduling a spa appointment a priority!)”

I really cannot emphasize the difference it’s made to have the congestion gone and to have the development of the cystic acne lesions stunted and even reversed. I also think the Skin Accumax has made my skin more radiant and healthy looking! I’ve been able to go out in public without wearing make up on for the first time in years (of course I still use sunscreen), but it’s a great feeling to know I can be 'seen' without having to get into full make up... I actually feel 'pretty' in my bare skin! Susanne Morrison, Polk City, Iowa
I had an opportunity to receive a complimentary chair massage from Jennie at the Serendipity Holiday Shopping event. I have had numerous professional massages from a variety of professionals – Swedish, hot stone, deep tissue, you name it, I've tried it. In a brief 15 minutes, Jennie offered the best upper body massage I've ever had. She was incredibly thorough in meeting my needs and ensuring I was comfortable, even for a complimentary service! I’m so glad she decided to return to Des Moines. Kaitlyn
